Star Wars: Order 65
Former Jedi Master and Sepratist Marshal, trained Grand Master Kenobi, killed on Tatooine as a traitor.
Qui-Gon Jinn was a revered, yet maverick and unconventional Jedi Master who was expelled from the Jedi Order for collaboration with the Separatists. He was Padawan to Count Dooku, and mentor to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Jinn often placed himself in conflict with the Jedi Council. He was deeply attuned to the Living Force, which contributed to his frequent taking side trips to help seemingly “pathetic life-forms.” Despite his opposition to the council, he was regarded by many Jedi as sharp-witted and for possessing great wisdom.
Jinn served the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order for most of his life, participating in actions against the Nebula Front and most famously during the Invasion of Naboo. It was Jinn who discovered the Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker, on Tatooine during this crisis and was largely responsible for championing his training. He was paralyzed in a battle with the Sith assassin, Darth Maul, but he continued to serve the Jedi, training Anakin Skywalker as a padawan.
In the years leading up to the start of the Clone Wars, Jinn would frequently meet with the Jedi Council to warn them of a coming darkness. After the start of the Clone Wars, it was brought to the Council’s attention that Jinn was in league with his former master, Count Dooku, who was now leading the Separatist Movement. For this betrayal, Jinn was cast out of the Jedi Order.
Several months into the war, Jinn joined the Separatist Movement as a strategic commander and as spokesperson for the cause. Before he joined, the Separatists were seen as power hungry war mongers and corporations upset by increased taxes to the Republic. When Jinn joined them and fired most of the brutal commanders leading the Separatist Forces, it added a certain credibility to Dooku’s message of a corrupt Republic flexing it’s might at the expense of the people. Support for the Separatists began to swell.
After Palpatine‘s corruption was discovered and he was removed from power, newly-appointed Chancellor Padme Amidala and Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker journeyed to Skywalker’s home planet of Tatooine to meet with Dooku and Jinn to discuss a cease fire. Dooku and Jinn attacked Chancellor Amidala during the negotiations, assassinating her. In the brutal combat that followed, General Skywalker, Count Dooku, and Marshal Jinn were also killed. General Kenobi returned home with the body of the Chancellor, saying he burned Skywalker’s body as part of the Jedi death ritual. Dooku and Jinn are said to be buried in unmarked graves on a classified world between Tatooine and Coruscant, to prevent anyone from using their burial site as a rallying point for further conflict and hatred.
